Bungling Bert at the Castle

Bungling Bert must think up a cunning plan to get inside Pebblesea Castle.
Can he find a way past the fearless knights and fill his sack with priceless treasure?
Will that pesky pair, Buster and PC Percy, get in his way again?
This is an adventure story for early readers. Bungling Bert the Burglar is a loveable rogue who tries to outwit PC Percy and his dog, Buster, by thinking up cunning plans. He tells no one of his cunning plans except Bounty, his pet mouse.
A first chapter book for children who still like colourful pictures. Well known words are blended with some more challenging text to help improve reading. Bungling Bert books are fun, short stories with a taste of adventure.

Author - Kay G Hampton
I am a reader, a writer, and a lover of stories that come alive through engaging pictures and words.
My career has spanned more than 30 years and centred on teaching in many different settings, with many different age groups. From this developed a desire to write and publish children's stories. These I now use creatively in my work, to engage and motivate the next generation of readers and writers.
Working with children helps me stay fresh and motivated. They keep alive my sense of direction, as well as my sense of humour! In writing the Bungling Bert series, I wanted to capture the mischievousness of young minds and wrap it up in a lovable rogue.
When I am not working, I like to be outdoors and active. My love of nature means that I can walk my dog, or cycle my way, into ‘relax mode’ very easily. These are often the times when I dream up my next adventure for Bert!
Illustrator - Vicky Fieldhouse
I have always loved to draw and paint and am now lucky enough to work as a freelance illustrator and designer, creating colourful children's illustration for clients all over the world from my studio in Sheffield, in the UK.
After gaining a 1st BA (Hons.) in Graphic Design, I began my design career working in-house for UK Department Store NEXT designing children's bedding, home and gift ranges.
To further develop my illustration skills, I went on to complete an MA in Illustration at Falmouth University, Cornwall and have spent the last 7 years being commissioned by publishers and clients to create illustrations for picture books, greeting and gifting ranges, bedding, packaging and a variety of children's merchandise.
Aside from drawing I try to fit in lots of cycling and hiking up mini mountains in the peak district, and travel to much bigger snow covered mountains whenever possible!
