Cat-Lateral Damage is a whacky, humorous story, suitable for eight to twelve-year-olds.
Iva Toone, the owner of Toone’s Convenience Store, is a single, middle-aged lady with a hopeless crush on Tom Cruise!
One morning, Iva is shocked to discover evidence of mice in her store. But she need not worry. Her fluffy tortoiseshell cat, Bonaparte, who has exceptional mousing skills, soon solves the problem. What does her ace-mouser get in return? Six cat treats. Not too bad for a night’s work!
As the mouse problem spreads to neighbouring houses, Iva sees an opportunity. She hires out Bonaparte, and each time she does so, she increases her fees. But she doesn’t increase Bonaparte’s reward. Her mouser is miffed!
Regular customer at the store, young Chalky White, comes to Bonaparte’s aid. Cat and boy hatch a planand Iva soon discovers that her secret weapon has talents which extend beyond catching mice!
Will this planbring Iva to her senses?
The title, Cat-Lateral Damage, and the story idea was suggested by Judy’s grandson, Taio.
