'Friendship isn't all smooth sailing.'
Zoe would like to sail down the river to sea in her little boat with her dear Dog but Dog doesn't want to come with her so she sets off on her own...
An adventure story in graphic format.
‘It could be favourite reading for young readers for a long time to come.’
Carousel, Spring 2012 Chris Stephenson
Through wonderfully watery illustrations, Gillian McClure tells the story of Zoe and her dog using the rare magic that only a picture book can bring. It is what the author doesn’t say in the words but allows the reader time to discover in the pictures that makes this book, like all really good picture books, so engaging.
The child’s need for independence and adventure is wrapped up here in the safety and reassurance of true friendship and a place to come home to. It is a beautifully balanced book that is a treat for the eyes and the mind.
Gillian McClure is a writer and illustrator of over 25 picture books. Several of them have been short-listed for awards; one highly commended for the Kate Greenaway Medal and ‘Selkie’ won the US Parent’s Guide to Children’s Media Award for Outstanding Achievement in Children’s Books.
